Description

Berlin based artist Anne Imhof shows her metal in a piercingly sharp interview with Klaus Biesenbach.

“You have to make art as if today is your last day, your last piece, your last thought. Otherwise, you’ll never get as good as you can.”

She presents herself as fighting fit and pulls no punches. After all, one of her key works was set in a boxing ring, where the boxers fought for as long as the music played, and the music lasted for as long as the boxers boxed. That’s as tough as it gets: endurance art. She’s equally tough on herself — her award-winning Venice Biennale show had her singing, climbing, falling, and screaming. No shortcuts. No time to delay or hesitate, only ‘the now above all.’ Through her work, which seamlessly blends choreography, visual art, and music, she redefines performance, using it to explore themes of power, surveillance, and the body’s evolving relationship with technology.
